In the Madhumati poster, Saira Banu recalls being envious of Vyjayanthimala’s “proximity” to Dilip Kumar

Saira Banu, a seasoned performer from bygone eras, has been in a nostalgic mood for a while. The Padosan actress often posts old images and recollections to her social media accounts, inviting her friends and followers along for the ride down memory lane. Saira Banu recently shared a nice memory from her time before she became an actress, one that involves her late husband Dilip Kumar.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-179077″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-the-latest-calendars-in-sivakasi-tamil-nadu-now-have-clocks-download-2023-09-13t18.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com the latest calendars in sivakasi tamil nadu now have clocks download 2023 09 13t18″ width=”1007″ height=”754″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-the-latest-calendars-in-sivakasi-tamil-nadu-now-have-clocks-download-2023-09-13t18.jpg 259w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-the-latest-calendars-in-sivakasi-tamil-nadu-now-have-clocks-download-2023-09-13t18-150×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1007px) 100vw, 1007px” title=”In the Madhumati poster, Saira Banu recalls being envious of Vyjayanthimala's "proximity" to Dilip Kumar 12″>

When Saira Banu was in London, she recalled having to wait for her mother to send her cinema magazines from India. She said that when she was living in London, she had posters of her heroes, such as James Dean and Elvis Presley, all over the walls of her room. She saw the Dilip Kumar-starring film Aan around that time and quickly grew to love the actor. She considered him to be one of her heroes and would eagerly await her mother’s delivery of publications with images of Dilip Kumar.

She laughed off a foolish act of “jealousy” she had committed as a young kid because of her intense love for Dilip Kumar. She continued by saying that she became envious after seeing pictures of Vyjayanthimala and Dilip Kumar, who starred together in the film Madhumati, in one magazine.

With one of the movie stills showing Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala standing close together with the actor laying his face on her forehead, Saira Banu said that the 1958 movie was “bold” in character. This incited jealousy in Saira Banu, who then remembered her immature deed of severing Vyjayanthimala’s piece of the image with a pair of scissors. According to her, Vyjayanthimala was a young actor at the time, and she found it upsetting to witness her beloved Dilip Saab with a complete stranger.

She said that the experience was amusing and humiliating since she had become very close to Vyjayanthimala, who had become her favorite, over the years. She said that she now addresses Vyjayanthimala as her “elder sister” and that they now communicate practically weekly.
