At the IIFA 2023, actress Alia Bhatt took up the Best Actor Award for Performance in a Leading Role-Female. To receive her prize for her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi, the performer was supposed to be there, but she was not. Alia's producer Jayantilal Gada accepted the award on her behalf.
Alia allegedly missed the event because of a family issue, according to news agency ANI. Narendra Nath Razdan, her maternal grandpa, is allegedly ill. Soni Razdan, an actress who is wed to Mahesh Bhatt, has Narendra as her father.
Earlier, Soni Razdan had discussed her father.
In an interview with Hindustan Times a few years ago, Soni Razdan discussed her parents and said, “Dad was an extraordinarily skilled violinist who even garnered acclaim from Yehudi Menuhin. Thus, even while still a student, he would travel around Europe with the company of renowned Indian classical dancer Ram Gopal. Dad had invited someone to one of his London performances, and when they were unable to go, they gave my mother the passes with the instructions to go backstage and thank Mr. Razdan after the performance. When they first ran into one other, he asked her out for coffee.

In 2018, Shaheen Bhatt, Alia's sister, sent a lengthy letter in honour of Narendra's 90th birthday. On Instagram, she had posted a video of him playing the violin and captioned it, “This wonderful man turns 90 years old today.”
“My grandpa is my hero and my favourite person,” she said. In his 90 years, he has amassed a wealth of hilarious (and frequently dirty) jokes, mastered the art of whisky drinking, played the violin all over Europe, had two extraordinary daughters, hit a hole-in-one, become an expert billiards and bridge player, and most importantly, given me my childhood.
She had also said, “I have never encountered someone more dedicated to enjoying life than him. He still works at the workplace. If I'm fortunate enough to develop into even a little portion of him, I'll consider my life to have been a success. Grandpa, happy birthday and I love you. After more than 30 years, he is again taking up the violin. Shaheen had also posted a picture of herself, Alia, and her grandpa at that time on Instagram. She had penned, “Happy Birthday Grandpa.”
