Will Saif Ali Khan and Sujoy Ghosh Work Together? Director Says They’ve Been Chasing Him Ever Since Jhankaar Beats | Exclusive

Kareena Kapoor Khan exclusively told News18 Showsha at the trailer debut of Sujoy Ghosh’s most recent film, Jaane Jaan, that Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were originally scheduled to star in the picture. Saif had a past with the movie and, like a good spouse, pushed his duties onto Kareena. Sujoy has said, “We weren’t able to make the film, even though we were supposed to.”

Director Says They've Been Chasing Him Ever Since Jhankaar Beats | Exclusive 6″ srcset=”×422.jpeg 750w,×220.jpeg 390w,×84.jpeg 150w, 768w” sizes=”(max-width: 1785px) 100vw, 1785px” />

Although Saif and Sujoy have never worked together as an actor-director team, the Kahaani filmmaker now tells us that he has been hoping to work with Saif for a long time and is presently looking for a story that would allow him to realize his ambition. He adds, “Yes, if there is ever a script,” in conversation with us. Ever since Jhankaar Beats, my first film, I have been chasing him.

Sujoy is reportedly set to film an action thriller with Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan in the lead roles. Its shoot is scheduled to start this month if everything goes as planned. Although Sujoy won’t comment on the project, he does say that he’s eager to make a short film once again following Anukul, Sex With The Ex (Lust Stories 2), and Ahalya, which all received very positive reviews.

Following the positive reviews for the Radhika Apte and Soumitra Chatterjee film, there were rumors in 2015 that Sujoy was planning to make a sequel to Ahalya. Nevertheless, after all these years, nothing happened. When you ask him the same question, the director responds, “I really want to.” I had considered doing it at one point, but then Soumitra da’s tragic death occurred. Thus, I’m not sure. I’m not sure whether I want to finish Ahalya without Soumitra da since he was a very important part of it.

Sujoy is pleased that an increasing number of platforms and filmmakers are making investments in short films, and he commends Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films for providing a pathway in this approach. He says, “They’re unique because of the content they advocate,” in reference to the platform. I still recall the first time I worked with Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films on a project. There were no boundaries, demands, specifications, rules, or limitations. All they wanted to do was make a short film in order to promote other short films. I believe the distinction is in the purpose. Their goal is to establish, support, and finance that sector of the economy. And I will produce another movie if they grant me the funding to do so!

Sujoy quickly clarifies, however, that creating a short film is not an easy task. He goes on to clarify, saying, “It’s a very difficult thing to do.” It’s similar to creating a short film, which is a labor of love. A brief video offers no refund. A brief film does not return any of your money. All that has to happen is for someone to tell them, “Okay, here’s some money, go make a short film.” Good, awful, or ugly—it makes no difference. I believe it’s the encouragement and the intention.
