Young Environmentalist Roohi Mohazzab Honoured at United Nations Asia-Pacific Conference 2026

Bangkok, Thailand | February 2026

Roohi Mohazzab, a six-year-old environmental advocate from Kerala, India, delivered a keynote address at the Global Conference on Education for a Sustainable Future (GCE 2026), hosted at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok.

The event, organized by the UNESCO Youth Education Research Center in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Council (Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC), recognized Roohi as a Keynote Speaker and SDG Impact Awardee.

Foundation Launch at UN Platform

At the international forum, Roohi officially launched “The Children Movement for Climate Compassion,” a child-led environmental foundation focused on sustainability education, civic engagement, and ecological restoration.

Key Initiatives

  • CounTree Project – 10 million trees through school micro-nurseries
  • Tree Bank Nursery Project – 10,000 schools targeted (launched by Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar)
  • Recycled Paper Passport Campaign – Advocacy addressed to Narendra Modi and global leaders

In her keynote address, Roohi stated:

“Children are not just the future — they are the present guardians of Mother Earth.”

Her participation marks a significant milestone for youth-led climate advocacy and represents a proud moment for India.
